第一条： “我是耶和华－你的上帝，曾将你从埃及地为奴之家领出来，除了我之外，你不可有别的神。” 第二条： “不可为自己雕刻偶像，也不可做什么形象仿佛上天、下地，和地底下、水中的百物。不可跪拜那些像，也不可事奉它，因为我耶和华－你的上帝是忌邪的上帝。

现在我们所处的是基督的救恩时代，是一个充满爱和宽恕的时代，所以基督徒的禁忌并不如有些人想象的那么多。 但是，基督教特别要求用心灵和诚实来敬拜上帝。要爱上帝，也要爱人如己。上帝愿意宽恕我们，我们也要宽恕别人，不记恨他人，甚至要爱你的仇敌。所以，从道义上来讲，基督教的要求反而只有更高。
基本概括起来，基督教徒首先要相信上帝，不能藐视、欺哄上帝和圣灵；然后，不能拜偶像，不敬拜其他的假神；不能做胡作非为的事情，如偷窃、杀人、奸淫、陷害他人等（以上这些写在旧约的十诫当中）；另外，在食物上血不能吃，用来祭拜偶像的供品也不可以吃；还有，我们的身体是上帝的殿，是按照上帝的形象造的，所以损害我们身体的事情是不能做的，按现代的标准来看，吸毒、抽烟、酗酒等事情就不能做。
这些是我们基督教中总的标准，你可以参看《马太福音》等四福音书，我相信你自己也会明白许多问题。如果你碰到一些没听说过的禁忌，就可以参照上面的标准和福音书中的记载，如果符合，基督徒就不能做，如果不符合，那就说明只是一些个别提法，不是基督教的基本准则。
