分词在独立主格结构的运用。独立主格结构可作状语，表示时间，条件、 原因、伴随等情况。这时如果分词逻辑上的主语和句子主语不一致，则可以在分词前面加上 名词或代词，使它有自己的主语，这就构成了独立主格结构，例如： 1)The shower being over,we continued marching。
(=When the shower was over,。。 。)(时间状语) 2)So many members being absent,the meeting had to be put off。(=As so many members were absent。
。。)(原因状语) 3)He rushed out of the workshop,his face covered with sweat。(伴随状语) 4)Weather permitting,we'll have an outing next week。
(条件状语) 其实“time is one of the two elements that americans save carefully, the other being labor。 ”是一个单句，在“the other being labor”之前省略了“with”。
一楼的朋友通过在“the other”之前加上一个连词and，并将“being”改成“is”，把这个单句变成了一个并列句。 ---------------------------------------------- 。
