    stand out是指在某方面突出而引起人注意的意思,后面的by引导的不是被动态而是原因状语,所以我觉得就语法来说没有错误,唯一有问题的就是如前几位所说的surpring拼写错误了,少了个s。

  •   "John Donne stood out by using some surpring images。"
Perhaps instead of "stood out", you could use "distinguished himself"。
"He stood out by' is incorrect。 "He stood out because-" is okay。 In this case, however, he caused himself to stand out, so you should write: "John Donne made himself stand out by。
。。" You might change "images" to "imagery" (which means the use of expressive or evocative images in art, literature, or music) "Surprising" is probably not quite the right adjective either, depending on the context。
。startling or unusual might be better。 I would rewrite the sentence this way: "John Donne distinguished himself with his use of unusual/surprising/startling imagery。
" or "John Donne made himself stand out by using images in unusual/startling ways。" 。

  • John Donne stood out by using some surpring images.
    我觉得好象有点错误, 确实需要被动.
也许应该这样说:John Donne made himself stood out by using some surpring images.
