行文逻辑,难以理解

  Like thousands of parents across Britian,I have been scanning the skies with some nervousness this week.My son and daughter are praying the snow---and the school closures---to continue.And I'm praying for slush.
疑问:to continue是指the snow吧??
孩子们prey雪继续,而家长则是盼望雪停(praying for slush)??
   At a time when people are worried enough about keeping their jobs,the cost of school closure is immense(每次当家长们非常担心他们能否上班时,封校的成本非常巨大->逻辑上应该是指:由于封校成本巨大,家长们担心他们的工作。可是作者这样的文笔,我觉得很奇怪).
  Parents unable to secure emergency childcare have no choice but to stay off work(不上班??) themselves./This translates all too quickly into oreders unfulfilled and contracts prejudiced(这一切转变都太快,命令来不及履行,也会产生偏见???---这句话好突兀,难以理解)/.XX reckons that by the end of the week our trembling economy will have suffered losses worth some XXbn(英磅).
   It's natural to look for the weak link in this chain of disaster and,not unusally,it's teachers who are being criticized(disaster与teacher之间的link?).Parenting websites abound with childhood memories of brave infants,battling their way to school in the Big Snow of the 1960s and 1970s and angry demands have been made for school staff to show courage and set an example.According to xx group,"we are giving children the message that when things get difficult you should stay at home and have fun.Then,when they keep taking sick days from work when they grow up,we wonder why.(当他们长大后,工作时总是生病,我们会对此很奇怪??-逻辑上难以理解)"

      发表一下愚见,共同学习,
    1、 to continue指代snow及the school closures两方面,孩子们企盼雪一直下和学校继续关门(放假),作者(父母)则企盼slush(雪开始消融);
    2、在那个人们为保住工作而忧心忡忡的年代, 学校关门的成本是巨大的。
      (联系下文就不难理解,下文大意是"由于学校关门造成孩子们上不了学而待在家里,不能确保孩子(自己在家)安全的家长们只能待在家里不上班(照顾孩子),This translates all too quickly into orders(订单) unfulfilled and contracts prejudiced(家长们上不了班)迅速地导致了订单无法完成及合同受到影响(prejudic 动词"削弱"、'受到影响"), 3、XX reckons that by the end of the week our trembling economy will have suffered losses worth some XXbn。
      XX认为截至周末我们不稳定的经济将会遭受XXX亿损失(bn=billion十亿)。 4、 It's natural to look for the weak link in this chain of disaster and,not unusally,it's teachers who are being criticized(disaster与teacher之间的link?)。

       自然而然的(人们)会去查找灾难链条的薄弱环节{问题所在),而通常情况下教师成为了被指责的对象(教师不给孩子上课导致孩子待在家,父母为了顾及孩子安全而留在家照顾孩子不能上班,导致了经济受损)。 家长们的网站(比如某某学校的家长聊天群)则丰富的洋溢着勇敢少年在遭遇六、七十年代那场大雪时冒雪上学的儿时记忆,家长愤怒地要求教师要显示出勇气(给孩子上课),作出表率。

      当孩子长大时,当他们请病假不上班时,到那时,我们才想知道问为什么(为时已晚)(then,when。。。。when。。。。we wonder why用得很出彩,有力度又恰到好处,作者是想表达一种忧心、无奈、愤怒又有前瞻性的想法:"与其亡羊补牢不如未雨绸缪"。
