bstract: On the basis of understanding of the books content, style and temperament, with  idea and  image to show the wings of imagination, you may experience and imagine with rich imagination  。
   At the same time, facing a large number of  elements, we must be rational and prudent in selection and abstraction。 We shall extract the the visual symbols that best represent the beauty of the book。
   Attention shall be focused on the presentation of the beauty of the form。 Book design, is not a simple cover design, but manifestation of connotation of the book。
   There are maybe thousands of forms of representation , but they shall be made with  holistic approach。 Book binding design must be "the same inside and outside" , namely the unity of form and content。
   I consider the use of pattern for book binding design is also very important。 Pictures in the book properly reflects the rhythm of the book design。
   Through  study of traditional Japanese pattern, and  understanding of  its application in history and aesthetics in  book binding,we may  sublimate it to the application of traditional patterns as visual symbols in  , through exploringthe   the aesthetics of the visualization of symbols in graphic design,  understand inherited nationalization in modern design。
