The reason why I participated in that society is that I could, on the one hand, have the chance to enjoy the European pop music to the full and that it would provide me with good opportunities to practice my English on the other. However contrary to all my expectations it turned out to be a music society centered round singing of all kinds instead.
一方面，我本来就很喜欢听欧美音乐，另一方面，我觉得这也是锻炼英语很好的机会。但没想到的是，这个社团和我所想的大相径庭，竟然是以唱为主的。 I choose to take part in that society because, on one hand, I like European pop music, and on the other, I believe it is a good chance to practise my English. To my great disappointment, the society focus on singing instead.
